We have had several friends tell us they tolerate riding in pain because they’ve been told their saddle fits the horse — they believe that it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t fit them.

❌ WRONG

❓ WHY? – RIDER COMPENSATION

When a rider is uncomfortable or in pain, they will compensate. That compensation directly alters load, balance and communication with the horse.

⚠ Being forced to sit too wide in a saddle can push the rider into a chair seat or cause pelvic skew, resulting in uneven loading — often more to one side and/or towards the rear of the horse’s back.

⚠ A rider with a low pubic arch in a saddle with a high pommel will often sit further back to avoid pressure, again shifting load incorrectly onto the rear of the horse’s back.

⚠ This scenario commonly also forces the rider to sit too wide, compounding instability and asymmetry.

⚠ Increased reliance on reins or stirrups for stability when the pelvis cannot sit neutrally

⚠ Asymmetrical weight bearing due to unilateral pain, contributing to crookedness, uneven muscle development and performance issues in the horse Riders — you should not have to suffer this pain. And more importantly, you mustn’t, for the welfare of the horse.
